ART PREMIERE & VIP RECEPTION

These Thursday evening events are only open to VIP's (astronauts & speakers) and their guests, Universal & Galactic ticket holders, participating artists, and sponsors.

2012 marks the 30th anniversary of the Hawaii Space Art Workshop in 1982, organized by Dr. William K. Hartmann of the Planetary Science Institute here in Tucson. Mike Carroll will give a presentation of this seminal workshop, whose participants formed the core group for the IAAA, the worldwide art guild of space artists. Most of the Hawaii artists will display their works in the art show.

Then we fling open the doors to the Arizona ballroom for a first look at the art show, which will have been judged and awarded ribbons. Artists will be present to answer questions and talk about their works. Limited editions of the IAAA portfolio book The Beauty of Space will be available.

The ballroom's large foyer will play host to the VIP reception/mixer, where you can schmooze, booze, and snack on hot hors d'oerves with friends & VIPs, and wander into the art show.

Dress Code: Dress code for the VIP Reception is "dressy casual". That means a shirt with a collar, slacks and no sandals for the men. A dress, skirt or pants with a nice top, no tennis shoes or sandals. No shorts! Follow the link for more information.
