Jack Lousma was picked as a NASA Apollo astronaut in 1966. He was assigned to Apollo 20, but the program was cancelled at Apollo 17. He was subsequently assigned to the second 3-man Skylab crew, commanded by Alan Bean, spending 59 days in space.

Nearly ten years later, he was named as commander of the STS-3, the third test flight of the space shuttle Columbia. And made the only shuttle landing at backup site White Sands, New Mexico during a vicious dust storm.

Known for his wit and humor, he was televised bouncing sideways between the shuttle walls on the middeck to demonstrate the zero-g. Jack ran for the U.S. Senate in 1984, but narrowly lost to incumbent Carl Levin. He is married to his wife of 52 years, Gratia. Indeed, the Lousmas are the most gracious folks you will ever meet.

Jack is an avid and skilled golfer and will be playing in the Moonwalker Invitational.
