Our high-profile guest speakers will give audio-visual presentations on interesting subjects in the comfort of the 100-seat conference theatre , with amphitheater-style loge seating. Some of the more popular speakers and talks will move across the hall to the more spacious Palo Verde room, which will hold 300+.

Some of the talks will have an admission fee, tickets will be available at the door.

	Dr. Carolyn Porco Imaging team leader Cassini-Saturn ciclops.org	Dr. Porco, a graduate of CalTech, holds the prestigious position of command of the Cassini mission's cameras has taken many amazing photos of the rings, moons, and Saturn itself. She will show, tell, and explain about the mission's past, present and future goals and accomplishments. She will also discuss discoveries of Saturn's largest moon, Titan.
	John Young Gemini 3, 10 Apollo 10,16 STS-1, 9 Astronaut, Moonwalker	John Young is The Astronaut, having flown most of NASA's spacecraft, from Gemini 3 in 1965 to STS-9 in 1983. He spent nearly 43 years at NASA, a record not likely to be broken soon. He is currently writing his autobiography, detailing his record 6 spaceflights. Capt. Young will also attend the banquet, as will all Spacefest speakers.
	Rusty Schweickart Apollo 9 astronaut Chairman B612 Foundation	The Goal of the B612 Foundation is to significantly alter the orbit of an asteroid in a controlled manner, by 2015. Asteroid and comet impacts have both destroyed and shaped life on Earth since it formed. The Earth orbits the Sun in a vast swarm of near-Earth asteroids (NEAs). The probability of an unacceptable collision in this century is ~2%. We now have the capability to anticipate an impact and to prevent it.
	Andy Chaikin Writer, Artist, Musician	Andrew Chaikin was an editor at Sky & Telescope magazine for many years, and co-authoring The New Solar System, which is the bible for planetary scientists. In 1986, Andy began his magnum opus: The complete chronicle of the Apollo project A Man On The Moon. It took eight years to complete. It was the basis for the Emmy winning HBO miniseries entitled From the Earth to the Moon produced by Apollo 13's Tom Hanks.
	Dr. Dan Durda NASA HQ Planetary Scientist	Dr. Dan Durda is a planetary scientist specializing in small bodies at NASA HQ in Washingon DC. A multi-talented Renaissance Man, Dan also holds a pilot's license, is a major space artist, and is an expert underwater cave diver. He also hiker, spelunker and geologist. He will speak about the promise of near-Earth asteroids as intriguing targets for exploration.
	David Levy Author, Astronomer, Lecturer	David Levy is well-known for his numerous books on astronomical subjects as well as biographies of famous astronomers, and his numerous TV appearances on PBS' NOVA and The Discovery and Learning Channels. He carries on the mantle of Carl Sagan as a popularizer of astronomy, and is a discoverer or co-discoverer of several comets, most notably Shoemaker-Levy 9, which struck Jupiter in 1994.
	Dr Bruce Betts Director of Projects The Planetary Society	Bruce Betts directs the plethora of projects of The Planetary Society, which was was the brainchild of the late Dr. Carl Sagan. The Society has been one of the largest membership organizations in existence since the very inception, publishes the Planetary Report monthly, and funds various space projects and initiatives such as the famous "Earth's Greatest Hits" record aboard Voyager, spacecraft naming contests, and even flying the first Solar Sail is space. They are also the co-sponsors of Spacefest.
	Dr. Jim Rice Science team Mars rover project Mars Odyssey	Jim Rice is an investigator at the Mars Space Flight Facility here at ASU. He is responsible for the unofficial names of features on Mars discovered by the rovers Spirit and Opportunity. He also works on the THEMIS camera onboard Mars Odyssey orbiter. He targets the cameras, takes pictures of Mars and then analyzes the images for future landing sites and geologic studies.
	Dr. Seth Shostak SETI Institute (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence)	Seth Shostak Has a degree in physics from Princeton, and a doctorate in astronomy from CalTech. Seth has conducted radio astronomy research on galaxies, and published fifty professional papers. Book credits include "Sharing the Universe: Perspectives on Extraterrestrial Life" "Life in the Universe" (with Jeff Bennett and Bruce Jakosky) and "Cosmic Company" (with Alex Barnett.)
	Rick Sternbach Artist Tech. Advisor STAR TREK	Rick Sternbach is a well known space artist who won an Emmy Award for his work on Carl Sagan's COSMOS series. He is a founder of the IAAA, the guild of space art. Most notably, he was technical advisor and illustrator for Star Trek:The Next Generation making sure the science was valid.
	Paul & Chris Calle NASA, USPS Artists	Paul Calle and son Chris Are responsible for many illustrations, art prints, postage stamps and first day cover cachets. Paul was a NASA artist and was the only artist allowed at the Apollo 11 pre-launch, to record the events for posterity. Paul was the exclusive NASA artist present during the Apollo 11 crew preflight. A whole portfolio of Calle space art will be on display at the art show. Giclees will be available for order.
	Dr. Phil Plait NASA Education & Public Outreach Bad Astronomy.com	Phil Plait is the "Moon Hoaxer's" worst nightmare. With a doctorate in astronomy, he travels the world, humorously and expertly debunking those who think Apollo was a hoax. His heavily-trafficked website Bad Astronomy is a daily staple for serious astronomers or curious surfers. A must-see talk for teachers and those interested in the facts! Phil's not wearing an elaborate earring; he's standing in front of a Christmas tree!
	Dr. Martin Tomasko Huygens-Cassini Titan probe Imaging Camera Designer-Researcher	Dr. Martin Tomasko is leader and Chief Investigator for the imaging camera aboard Huygens, the ESA probe which landed on Saturn's Mercury-sized moon, Titan, and sent back amazing pictures of the descent and surface of the frozen world. Dr. Tomasko will discuss the findings.
	Dr. William K. Hartmann Planetary Scientist, Author, Artist, Lecturer PSI	Bill Hartmann Has written several widely-used astronomy textbooks, and also illustrated them. He has written hundreds of magazine articles and essays. He is widely known for his 1960s Doctorate thesis on the moon's origin; spun off as debris from a violent planetary collision with Earth--ridiculed back then, but widely accepted now. He heads the Planetary Science Institute. Bill will also have a presence in the art show.
	Dr. Christopher McKay Planetary Scientist, Astrobiologist Mars-Phoenix lander NASA-AMES	Dr. Chris McKay is a brilliant planetary scientist who recently postulated constant ethane drizzle on Saturn's moon Titan, based upon the Huygens' probe findings. He is best known, however for his work in the Antarctic, studying possibilities for extraterrestrial life in harsh conditions, particularly Mars. He also serves as a member of the Phoenix-Mars lander team.
	Rick Tumlinson Space Frontier Foundation Orbital Outfitters	Rick Tumlinson is a prime mover and point man in opening the space fronter to private citizens and enterprise. He is a visionary, a media savvy video producer, selling programs like the DC-X VTOL rocket,and X-33 SSTO Rocketplane through his videos. He personally signed up Dennis Tito, to be the first "space tourist." His media credentials have him featured in many large international newspapers, magazines, TV, and Congreesional hearings. 	Dr. Pat Ford Human factors in space travel	Dr. Pat Ford professor of Space Studies at American Military University, focuses his research on new and innovative ways of countering the negative impacts on the human neurovestibular system resulting from prolonged exposure to microgravity. How can we travel for years in space and arrive on another planet alert and ready to go, instead of wobbly like Jell-O, unable to perform the tasks at hand? Dr Ford will address these issues during his presentation.
>	Mike Joner Astronomy Research Professor, BYU	sMike Joner is an observational research astronomer. He has been an invited visiting astronomer at observatories around the world where he has spent many months working hundreds of nights under some of the most beautiful skies that can be found anywhere on Earth. He has flown a mission aboard the Kuiper Airborne Observatory. Mike has been a contributing author on more than a hundred astronomical presentations and journal articles. He will discuss astronomical image processing and just what to look for in all the remarkable pictures we see today.
	Dr. David Williams Planetary Geologist, ASU	Dr. David Williams is a Faculty Research Associate in the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University. He is currently researching volcanology and planetary geology, with a focus on planetary mapping, geochemical, and remote sensing studies. He was involved with NASA's Magellan Mission to Venus, and was an member of the Imaging Team of NASA's Galileo Mission to Jupiter,.. Dr. Williams is currently serving as an investigator on ESA's Mars Express.
	Michael Carroll Artist Author	Michael Carroll a renowned astronomical and paleo artist for more than twenty years, has done work for NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. His art has appeared in many magazines, including Time, National Geographic, Sky & Telescope, and Asimov's Science Fiction. One of his paintings flew aboard MIR; another is resting at the bottom of the Atlantic, aboard Russia's ill-fated Mars 96 spacecraft. Mike will also have a presence in the art show.
	Doug Griffith Aviaton & Space Attorney	Doug Griffith is an LA-based attorney specializing in aviation & spaceflight law. A combat-experienced Marine aviator, with a background in crash investigation and degrees in aerospace engineering and, of course, law, he is uniquely qualified to speak on risk management and liability questions surrounding the rapid development of private civilian spaceflight.
	Reda Anderson Earth & Space adventuress	Reda Anderson is a fearless grandmother who has explored primitive and exotic locales. She is one of 12 women who have dived to the *Titanic* in a submersible and is scheduled to be blasted 62 miles into space aboard the RocketplaneXP. Reda will discuss the parallels between her Titanic adventure and upcoming spaceflight.
